Rivers

Two free-flowing Wild and Scenic rivers await paddlers, anglers, and explorers

The Chattooga River

Federally designated Wild and Scenic, the Chattooga runs along the SC/GA state line through old-growth forest. Classified in sections (1-4), it offers everything from lazy floats to Class V whitewater — one of the most complete river experiences in the American Southeast. Managed by the U.S. Forest Service; permits required for Sections III and IV.
